What the check covers, and what it does not

What the check covers

  • Live and pending federal trademark records, compared by sound, spelling, meaning and market
  • The goods and services classes you confirm, so conflicts are judged where you sell
  • Clearer alternative names screened on the same 0 to 100 scale
  • Matching domains and social handles in the full report

What it does not

  • State registrations and unregistered (common-law) names, which need a deeper search
  • A comprehensive clearance search or an opinion on registrability
  • Legal advice: only a licensed attorney can advise you on whether to file

This free check is an AI-assisted preliminary screening against known U.S. trademark records. It is not a comprehensive clearance search and not legal advice. Only a licensed attorney can advise you on whether to file.

Five steps from a typed name to a filed application

The check, the design and the report are free. Nothing is filed until you have talked it through with the attorney.

  1. Check: Type the name, slogan or logo you want to protect. You get a clearance score against U.S. trademark records in seconds, with no account.
  2. Design: Sketch three logo concepts and an icon mark from the name and what you sell, or upload the logo you already have. With the name they make your brand set.
  3. Report: Unlock the full report: the closest live conflicts, the classes that fit what you sell, screened alternatives and matching domains.
  4. Call: Talk the results through with a licensed trademark attorney, who tells you what the screening cannot, and whether filing makes sense.
  5. File: One published attorney fee per application, stepping down from the second in an order, plus USPTO fees at cost. Your attorney prepares and files your application and responds to non-technical office actions.

About the free check

Is the trademark check really free?

Yes. The instant read and the full report cost nothing and there is no credit card to enter. We ask for your contact details before the full report so a licensed U.S. trademark attorney can follow up if you want help. Filing is a separate, clearly priced service you choose later.

What does the clearance score mean?

The clearance score runs from 0 to 100, and higher is better. 70 and above means the name looks clear: we found no live records likely to block it. 40 to 69 means some risk: there are similar live marks worth an attorney's look. Below 40 means high risk: a similar live registration is likely to stand in the way. The score is a screening estimate, not a guarantee.

What is the difference between the instant read and the full report?

The instant read takes about ten seconds and gives you a clearance score with the main reasons behind it. The full report adds the specific records we compared your name against, how each one is similar, which goods and services classes matter, alternative names that screen clearer, and plain-language next steps.

How accurate is the screening?

The check is an AI-assisted screening against known U.S. trademark records. It compares how names sound, how they are spelled, what they mean, and whether they sit in the same market. It is a strong first pass, but it is not a comprehensive clearance search and not legal advice. Before you file, an attorney reviews the results with you.

Why do you ask what I sell?

Trademarks are registered by class of goods or services, and two businesses can share a name if their markets do not overlap. Telling us what you sell lets us screen the right classes, which changes who counts as a conflict and gives you a more honest read.

Can I still register a name that shows conflicts?

Sometimes. A similar record is not an automatic rejection. Whether the other mark is live or dead, whether it covers the same goods, how strong the name is, and how you style it all matter. An attorney can tell you whether the conflict is real and what your options are.

Does the check cover state trademarks and unregistered names?

The free check screens against U.S. federal trademark records. State registrations and unregistered (common-law) names need a deeper search, which is part of the attorney-led filing service.

What happens after I get my report?

You can book a free call with a licensed U.S. trademark attorney to go through the results, or start the filing when you are ready. Your report stays available through the private link we email you, and nothing is filed until you say so.
